Techno.UA was a cultural platform aimed at discovering the local artists, building a musical community, and developing Ukrainian identity in crisis times.
In 2008 Ukraine was at the crossroads of USSR decolonization and Western cultural values absorbing. Taking techno music as a form of cultural liberation based on the Detroit & Birmingham practices, the project engaged Ukrainians in artistic exchange. It facilitated the development of the local musical identity, provided a platform for independent artists like Stanislav Tolkachev or Etapp Kyle, and promoted them abroad.
Data: 50 events, 15 radio shows, 10 podcasts, 30 000 members in the community, 2 mils. reach. Techno.UA has been named as the best electronic music project by the subcultural Ukrainian media Topdj.ua.
